Dr. Blount has been developing clinical service models and training programs throughout his 45-year career. He created model programs in Behavioral Health Integration in the primary care practices of UMass Memorial Healthcare and created model team-based training programs for behavioral health clinicians and family medicine residents in the Worcester Family Medicine Residency. He created the nation’s oldest and largest online training program in primary care behavioral health at the Center for Integrated Primary Care which he founded at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He has contributed to the delineation of the field of Integrated Primary Care though his service on such national groups as the National Integration Academy Council. He has contributed to statewide integration efforts in Colorado and Massachusetts. In Colorado, he was a lead consultant in the creation of the Colorado Competencies for Behavioral Health Providers Working in Primary Care. In Massachusetts, Dr. Blount worked on the committee, led by Dr. Judith Steinberg, which created the clinical model for the Primary Care Payment Reform program of Massachusetts Medicaid.
